Professor Efraim Benmelech Receives NSF Career Award

Professor Efraim Benmelech Receives NSF Career Award Associate Professor Effi Benmelech has received an NSF Career Award entitled "Empirical Analysis of the Causes and Consequences of Financial Distress." The NSF Career Award is one of the National Science Foundation's most prestigious awards in support of junior faculty early career-development, providing foundational awards to teacher-scholars that most effectively integrate research and educational activities. Benmelech's $400,000, 5-year award is in support of his long-term research and teaching agenda related to applied financial contracting and financial distress.

The Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program is a Foundation-wide activity that offers the National Science Foundation's most prestigious awards in support of the early career-development activities of those teacher-scholars who most effectively integrate research and education within the context of the mission of their organization. Such activities should build a firm foundation for a lifetime of integrated contributions to research and education.
