Professor Martin Feldstein Appointed to President Obama’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board
Martin Feldstein, the George F. Baker Professor of Economics at Harvard has been appointed to President Obama’s newly created Economic Recovery Advisory Board.
Created
through an executive order signed by President Obama on February 6,
2009, the Economic Recovery Advisory Board will offer independent
briefings to the President and Vice President on issues related to the
economic recovery. It is constituted of fifteen
members who have worked extensively in the fields of economics,
business, labor, and management and will function independently from
the National Economic Council which advises the President on

board will be chaired by Former Federal Reserve chief Paul Volcker and
is modeled on the Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board created by
President Eisenhower to offer an independent viewpoint on intelligence
issues.
Professor Feldstein was formerly the Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers from 1982 through 1984 and President Reagan's chief economic adviser. He has also served as a member of the President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board, appointed by President Bush in 2006.
