Special Event: Understanding the Crisis in the Markets: A Panel of Harvard Experts
Please see the following letter from Drew Faust, President of Harvard University:
Dear Members of the Harvard Community,
I hope that you will join fellow students, faculty, and staff colleagues for a special panel discussion on this Thursday, September 25, entitled "Understanding the Crisis in the Markets: A Panel of Harvard Experts." We are fortunate to have on campus some of the nation's leading scholars and practitionsers in finance, policy, law, and other fields relevant to the current situation, and several of them have generously agreed to participate in a special session for the Harvard community to help us understand and interpret recent developments in the U.S. and world markets. The panel will begin at 4:00 p.m. in Sanders Theatre and will include the following faculty members:
Robert Kaplan, Professor of Management Practice
Jay Light, Dwight D. Robinson, Jr. Professor of Business Administration and Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration
Gregory Mankiw, Robert M. Beren Professor of Economics
Robert Merton, John and Natty McArthur University Professor
Kenneth Rogoff, Thomas D. Cabot Professor of Public Policy
Elizabeth Warren, Leo Gottlieb Professor of Law
We do not yet know how the current turmoil in our financial markets will affect Havard, but it seems inevitable that we as a University and as individuals will be touched in various ways. I hope, therefore, that you will take advantage of this opportunity to engage with some of Harvard's leading experts and bring any questions you may have. If you cannot attend in person, you may wish to watch a live webcast of the panel discussion at http://video2.harvard.edu:8080/ramgen/broadcast/FinMktsPanel.rm
I very much hope to see you on Thursday.
With all best wishes,
Drew G. Faust
