Information for Graduate Students on the Job Market

Welcome to the Economics Team Job Market Assistance Page

Preparing a job market list for Mail Merge
To assist you in preparing your job application packages, we select, from the current JOE lists posted on the web, tenure-track junior academic positions at institutions likely to be of interest to our graduating PhDs. These names are from the US and International Full-time Academic lists; we do not include any non-academic, temporary, or part-time job opportunities since they are likely to have a limited appeal.

The abridged lists are in table format. You can edit these tables, deleting jobs (rows) that do not interest you and adding jobs (rows) from JOE or other sources to create a personal job application list. We recommend that you examine each month's JOE lists for additional jobs that interest you and include them in your personalized tables. Our tables are created from the JOE "Openings by Employer" lists. On the JOE web site, you may also view the listings by job category or by location.

After editing, your tables may be used to run MSWord Mail Merge to produce letters and labels for your application packets. You will notice that a few institutions request electronic submissions; if you apply to these institutions, be sure to include the names on your list when you request recommendation letters from faculty.

Remember to check the book in the graduate office for job openings that were too late for JOE or where Harvard has been contacted directly.
